CARBONITRIDE LAYERS FORMATION ON TITANIUM IN NITROGEN MEDIUM ON GRAPHITE SATURATED
WITH OXYGEN


SUMMARY
The effect of preliminary annealing of graphite in vacuum and in air on the process of subsequent titanium saturation in a carbon-nitrogen containing medium has been studied. It has been shown that the preliminary oxygen activitation of graphite in air allows to reduce the formation temperature of carbonitride layer from 1100 to 850 oC. The structural and phase state of carbonitride layer on titanium as well as its characteristics depending on the technological parameters of saturation have been investigated.
