SUMMARY
Searching new materials featuring causes an intensive development of surface engineering. Thermo-chemical treatment technologies as CVD, PVD and PA PVD are broadly used for modification of structure and properties of material surfaces. Paper presents problem of structure
properties of new multifunctional coating materials obtained by PVD method and applied in the machine tribological elements (cutting treatment). Paper shows new application possibilities of coatings and the complexity of implementation process of PVD technology, which guaranties to obtain high quality of surface treatment. Paper is based on the literature data published in the Internet and on the own authors experience.
