ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF ORGANIC AND INORGANIC ZINC-RICH PRIMERS

SUMMARY
Both inorganic and organic zinc-rich primers protect effectively steel against corrosion in spite of differences in film formation mechanism and resulting properties. Differences in application and mechanical and protective properties of inorganic primers, based on alkali silicates and ethyl silicate, in comparison with organic primers, based mainly on epoxy binder, have been discussed.
