APPLICATION OF DYNAMIC SURFACE PLASTIC
TREATMENT – SHOT PEENING IN THE ARMAMENT INDUSTRY


SUMMARY
The dynamic surface plastic treatment methods of machine parts with special consideration of the shot-peening technology are described.
The equipment types and process control methods with innovative tech-niques of coverage degree inspection of shot-peened surfaces with Dyscan fluoroscopic fluids are presented. The principle of surface strengthening of treated metal resulting from its multiple plastic-elastic straining is explained. It is shown that shot-peening substantially modifies the state of treated surface layer and its opera-tional properties.
The final treatment effect depends on the state of surface layer of treated material and on the technological parameters of shot-peening process. State of the art of works based on plastic-elastic strains the-ory and main directions of technological development are presented. Investigation results of works realized by the Institute of Precision Mechanics for armament industry are also shown..
