IMPROVING POSSIBILITIES OF DURABILITY AND RELIABILITY
OF THE MILITARY EQUIPMENT FRICTION UNITS COATED
WITH NITRIDED LAYERS IMPREGNATED WITH
TRIBO-ANTICORROSION FORMULATIONS

SUMMARY
The results of tribo-corrosion investigations are presented in the paper. Samples were made of 45 grade steel with thin nitrided layers
(WL = 16,5 μm) obtained in controlled gas nitriding process and impregnated with multi-functional oil-based formulations containing corrosion inhibitor (CI) as well as tribological additives (TA) VAN and MOL. Synergetic effect, observed between TA and CI as well as TA concentrations vs. BS-MOD in multi-functional additives was more visible in wear resistance of impregnated nitrided layer. The functional effectiveness of multi-functional impregnating formulation is determined mainly by reciprocal relation between concentrations of CI and TA grade. The presented results show that the impregnation of nitrided layers on steel parts of friction units of military equipment can be taken into consideration for the improving their durability and reliability during training and/or military operations. Development of new multi-functional tribo-antico-rrosion formulations for kinetic units military equipment requires further investigations.
