.SUMMARY
The characterization of shot peening process as a method of surface treatment to apply in the production technology of rail vehicle wheel sets has been carried out. The results of the author’s investigations aimed in the complex characterization of P40 steel in selected type of shot peening were presented. The investigation results of the authors [17-18] concerning the application of shot peening process in the wheel sets working were presented as well.
